How did we end up here?

It seems to be an emerging tradition to share the story of the couple engaged to be married. Many of you know ours, but in the spirit of all things love & romance here’s a brief version of how we ended up here… Many moons ago we were next door neighbours. We knew each other a little as Andy had played football for Dionnes Dads team, along with Nathan her brother. We didn’t really get along. Dionne says Andy once kicked her dog… Andy denies it vehemently… Fast forward 20 years, and we found ourselves in a field on a rainy saturday morning chatting over baked beans & sausages out of a tin, with a perfect cup of tea. The frost between us began to thaw, and we could both see we shared a lot in common. There was even a few smiles, and a bit of laughter between us. A friendship was started in that field, and we began to share a little time together. Both of us suffered some difficulties over the next few years in our individual lives. The friendship that started over beans & tea began to become important to both of us. We each became someone the other person could rely on, whether it was for advice, support, emergency tea bags or a few much needed laughs on a night out. Eventually we came to point where our lives were our own & after years of being friends we went out on a drunken date, and the direction of both our lives changed. Nothing was straightforward, and there was more difficulty on the horizon for Andy. Life together was once again on hold, and our friendship became ever increasingly important. It was once again the rock that steadied us through this storm. The dark clouds eventually lifted, the sun began to shine and life together once again became possible. We now live and work together, planning for more adventures ahead. Dionne says that every day with Andy is fun, nothing is ever dull and all the difficulties are long forgotten. Andy says being with Dionne is like getting your best ever Christmas present, but every day. Both of us believe the friendship that we had in the beginning is what will hold us together in the future. We are really excited to be finally getting married, we want a day filled with fun & laughter, with all of you there with us. A day to show that what’s meant to be in life will always be, and that love always wins in the end. We want our wedding day to be a day that we share with you, and to say I do, in front of all of you lovely friends & family

Once we have taken some pictures we will take our seats for some food, served family style to each table. I’m sure we will take the time to say a few words here & there to mark the occasion. We will be joined after we’ve eaten, drunk & chatted for a while, by Matt Godfrey’s band The Kingsmen. They will be playing for us from 7pm. The guests invited for the wedding party will be joining us then too. At 9pm our music will be hosted by Paul Moore, we are leaving that in his capable hands until 1am.
